A cycle of friendly neighbours’ gestures towards residents of countries bordering Poland. Neighbours drop by for coffee, borrow salt or sugar, watch football matches on TV together and give each other a hand in watering plants. In Good Neighbours, Karolina Breguła transferred all those situations to a world of people who do not know each other at all, speak different languages and come from diverse cultural backgrounds. Good Neighbours is the artist’s first project in which art becomes a pretext for reaching out to people with an offer of encounter and establishing relations, akin to the later participatory film series Who’s There (2016).
